Greg Ashley | President US Market, Canadian Solar

Gregory Ashley, President US Market with Canadian Solar, is a nationally known authority on alternative power generation, power quality, and energy efficiency. He previously held the position of Vice President of Project Sales at Canadian Solar. Before joining Canadian Solar, he was Senior Manager of Strategic Business Development at Sun Edison, where he helped build the company to its current position as North America’s leader in solar energy services. Mr. Ashley developed the company’s strategic plans, business practices and founding solar projects. He began working in the solar energy field in the early 1980s, and later held positions in sales and business development for several of the nation’s largest energy equipment and services providers. In addition to solar power systems his areas of specialty included utility smart grid solutions, utility integrated distributed generation, power purchase agreements, and demand side management.

Mr. Ashley holds a BA in Economics from the University of California at Davis.
Steven A. Ballmer | CEO, Microsoft Corporation

Steve A. Ballmer is Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of software for personal and business computing. Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 and was the first business manager hired by Bill Gates. Since then, Ballmer's leadership and passion have become hallmarks of his tenure at the company.

Ballmer and the company's business and technical leaders are focused on continuing Microsoft's innovation and leadership across the company's core businesses. Microsoft's goal is to provide an integrated platform to enable a seamless experience across a wide range of computing and non-PC devices and services.

Variously described as ebullient, focused, funny, passionate, sincere, hard-charging and dynamic, Ballmer has infused Microsoft with his own brand of energetic leadership, vision and spirit over the years.

Ballmer was born in March 1956, and grew up near Detroit, where his father worked as a manager at Ford Motor Co. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics. While in college, Ballmer managed the football team, worked on the Harvard Crimson newspaper as well as the university literary magazine, and lived down the hall from fellow sophomore Bill Gates. After college, he worked for two years at Procter & Gamble Co. as an assistant product manager and, before joining Microsoft, attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Carmen Chang | Partner, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

Carmen specializes in corporate and securities law and is the leader of the firm's China practice. She is currently a member of the firm's Policy Committee.

Carmen's practice focuses on the representation of public and private technology companies and financial institutions in public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, and other types of transactions in the United States and abroad, particularly in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan, and other Asian countries. Among many other transactions, Carmen represented SMIC in its acquisition of Motorola's manufacturing operation in Tientsin—the first M&A transaction in China after the PRC put its M&A rules in place.

Carmen rejoins the firm from Shearman & Sterling, where she was a partner in its Menlo Park office. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, Carmen had been a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, focused on building the firm's Asia practice.

A well-regarded expert in corporate and securities law and cross-border transactions, Carmen is a frequent writer and speaker on the topic of conducting business in Asia, as well as on the legal and business regulations faced by foreign companies when they conduct business in the United States. A native of Zhejiang, China, she is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese.
David Chen | President, VanceInfo Technologies Inc.

Mr. David Lifeng Chen is the president of VanceInfo steering the Company to constant innovation in the outsourcing Industry. David has led key customer wins for VanceInfo including the exclusive VanceInfo-managed PeopleSoft ODC and the VanceInfo-managed Citibank Global Testing Center in China. Since most of VanceInfo’s customers are headquartered in the US, David is heavily involved in outsourcing-related activities in both China and the US. David played a leadership role in securing venture capital funding for VanceInfo first from Doll Capital Management (DCM) in 2005, and then from Sequoia Capital in 2006. The following year (2007), David led VanceInfo to become the first and only software outsourcer to go public in the US (NYSE:VIT).

Prior to leading VanceInfo, David held management positions at IT Services companies IBM and Oracle, and at KPMG where he led an ERP consulting group. Similarly, he served as a development manager at Asera, a leading B2B software company based in California in the United States, from 1999 to 2001 and co-founded Heteng Software in 2001.

Mr Chen received his master's of science degree in computer engineering from the University of California, Irvine and his bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering from Tongji University. Today, David stays involved with academic institutions in their research about VanceInfo’s global success story. He regularly hosts visiting MBA classes, providing input for the Stanford Graduate School of Business’ case study about VanceInfo (to be used in courses starting Spring Semester ’09), and the INSEAD Business School’s VanceInfo case study.
Eva Chen | CEO & Co-founder, Trend Micro USA

It’s what fuels Trend Micro’s spirit. It’s the very essence by which Trend Micro’s vision becomes reality. And for CEO and co-founder Eva Chen, it is at the heart of everything she has done – and will do – for the transnational company.

Ever since its inception in 1988, Eva has helped spearhead Trend Micro’s emergence as one of the world’s most innovative antivirus security companies. Before becoming CEO, Eva served as executive vice president from 1988-1996 and CTO from 1996-2004. During that time, she made an indelible mark on the company and the security landscape as a whole. Under her direction, Trend Micro produced a chronology of industry firsts, from unique products to outbreak management approaches. As a result of her innovation and leadership, she was appointed CEO in late 2004.

Eva holds a master's degree in business administration as well as a master's degree in information science from the University of Texas, Dallas. She earned a degree in philosophy from Chen Chi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
Jean Cholka | Chief Executive Office, Freeborders, Inc.

Jean Cholka joined Freeborders as CEO in April 2007 bringing over thirty years of executive leadership experience. Prior to joining Freeborders, Jean worked in executive level positions for Kanbay International, AT&T and Sears, Roebuck and Co. Especially notable is her seven years as an Executive with Kanbay, International, one of the top IT services consultancy companies in the USA with delivery centers in India, where she held positions including: President- North America; Chief People Officer; and Vice President-Global Client Relations. Under Jean's leadership, Kanbay achieved the distinction of one of the top IPO's for 2004 as well as one of the top 100 IT companies to work for.

In her current role, Jean leads Freeborders to engage the marketplace to optimize existing technology investments through strategic consulting coupled with leveraging IT services from China. To achieve this, Jean uses her extensive experience in the technology sector combined with her ability to attract top talent; create a high performance culture; sell innovative solutions, and deliver on an ambitious strategy. Jean's greatest strengths are her leadership skills, enthusiasm, commitment, and track record of building high performing teams. Equally important, Jean enjoys a challenge, particularly achieving growth within a company while helping people to achieve their potential.

Lilly Chung | Principal, Deloitte

Lilly Chung has over 20 years of experience in the high-technology industry. She is currently the lead client service partner at many major high-tech companies in the Silicon Valley. Through October, 2003, Lilly was the CEO and co-founder of Pictron, a software company providing video searching technology to broadcasting, education, and defense industries. Customers of Pictron include CIA, Lawrence Livermore Lab, Federal Reserve Bank, ABC Networks, Los Angeles County, North Carolina School District, and other major institutions.

Lilly started her career as a semiconductor design engineer for Fairchild Semiconductor. She was part of the original team designing the first 32-bit microprocessor. At Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, Lilly was responsible for designing the chipset for the Daisy workstation. She was also responsible for identifying technologies to transfer for commercialization from the prestigious Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. She was also part of Xerox’ Strategic Business Office at Xerox, responsible for strategic product planning. After business school, Lilly joined CSC Index, the founding company of business process reengineering (BPR).

Lilly then joined KPMG to lead their west coast BPR group. Lilly was recruited to Ernst & Young to lead major account activities and global alliance with Cisco. Her experience expanded from business process reengineering to ERP implementation and organizational effectiveness.

Lilly has helped major companies such as Acer Computer, Apple, Applied Materials, Cisco, Siemens, Solectron, and Xerox to improve their operational efficiencies. Her work was written up in Fortune Magazine.

Lilly holds a MBA degree from Harvard Business School, a M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from Stanford University and a B.S. and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California.
Fang Fang | CEO, J.P. Morgan China

Fang joined J.P. Morgan in August 2001 as a Director of Investment Banking in HongKong. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2003 and was appointed co-head ofChina Investment Banking in 2005 and CEO of J.P. Morgan China in early 2007.Leveraging J.P. Morgan’s extensive services platform, Fang and his colleagues have established J.P. Morgan as one of the most respected and influential investment banks inChina with leadership in product capabilities, client franchise and team strength. J.P.Morgan won the Asset Triple A “Best Foreign Investment Bank in China” and “Best Deal in China” awards in 2008.

Over the past years, Fang and team has provided some of the most complete and innovative financial solutions to the Chinese government agencies and key industry leaders such as Ministry of Finance, China Development Bank, COSCO, Chalco, China Railway, China Overseas Land, Sinosteel, China Southern Airlines, and Shougang Group,amongst others.

Prior to J. P. Morgan, Fang was a Vice President at Beijing Enterprises Holdings, a HK-listed China state-owned investment holding conglomerate, responsible for finance, legal and corporate communications. He was also seconded for one year as CEO to an affiliated start-up company within Beijing Enterprises. Fang started his career in 1993 with Merrill Lynch as an investment banking associate in New York and subsequently was transferred to its Hong Kong office.

In March 2008, Fang was appointed by the Chinese Central Government, for a term offive years, to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and currently also serves on its Subcommittee for Social and Legal Affairs.

Fang has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and an MBA from Vanderbilt University, USA.
Walter Fang | President, Neusoft America

Walter Fang is responsible for Neusoft’s international outsourcing business development and marketing, strategic alliance and partnership management.

Mr. Fang has over 32 years of IT experiences working for large multinational IT companies in Asia and North America, including 27 years with IBM Canada, IBM U.S., and IBM Asia Pacific. He has helped many North America large organizations in government sector, financial, and telecommunication industries, developing IT architectures and network computing solutions.

Prior to joining Neusoft, Mr. Fang was CEO of Computer And Technologies Software Ltd. (C&T Software) from 2000 to 2002. He has managed this start-up company in China and grew its software business substantially during his tenure.

Mr. Fang is also Chairman of International Association of Outsourcing Professional (IAOP) Beijing Chapter. He is the author and creator of the Visual Modeling Technique (VMT) development methodology. He graduated from Cheng Kung University in Taiwan with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master of Science degree in computer science from National Taiwan University.
Kevin Fong | Special Advisor, GSR Ventures

As one of the most respected ethnic Chinese venture capitalists in the Silicon Valley, Kevin has been a technology manager, entrepreneur, and co-leader of a top tier Silicon Valley venture fund, Mayfield Fund for over 20 years.

He also pioneered and helped the founding of GSR Ventures in last 4 years, an early-stage China focused technology VC fund. Mayfield has over $2.3 billion under management and GSR has over $600 million under management. He has been involved in over 54 company investments between 1988 and 2008. Of those investments, 9 have gone public and 15 have been acquired generating over $1 billion in returns to limited partners. He has gained tremendous amount of respect for limited partners.

Kevin has a track record of working with Chinese entrepreneurs, and has a broad and deep investment focus in the high tech industries, including communications, wireless, semiconductor, software, and consumer media sectors.

He also has strong experience in corporate governance (including SOX compliance) by serving as board of director for public companies. He also brought tremendous amount of expertise in guiding company through Initial Public Offering, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions.

Prior to joining Mayfield, Kevin was an operating executive at David Systems, a networking company, Hewlett Packard and Nortel/Bell Northern Research.

He is an advisor to the Asian Venture Capital Journal, and a board member to Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association. He is a frequent speaker on Asian market trends including recent appearances at the AVCJ annual conference, Dow Jones Asia Ventures and the HYSTA annual dinner.

Kevin earned an M.B.A. and M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from U.C. Berkeley.
Scott Gildner | President, TPI North America

Mr. Gildner is Partner and President of TPI North America with key responsibilities for all service delivery to TPI clients. Scott’s knowledge derives from practical experience assisting global organizations in the selection and implementation of sourcing solutions. Prior to assuming his current role, Scott managed the company’s HR, Finance & Accounting, and Procurement practices, along with two specialized competencies related to Change Management and Governance.

Scott joined TPI in 2005 via the acquisition of his own consultancy firm, Gildner & Associates, where he served as the owner and president. He has leveraged his extensive outsourcing and benefits consulting experience to grow the combined TPI HR organization into the largest sourcing advisory firm specializing in human resources. Considered among the most influential consultants within the Human Resources sourcing industry, Scott has been personally involved in hundreds of engagements for Fortune 200 clients assisting them with their sourcing strategy development. He has negotiated contracts in excess of US$3 billion of contracted services.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Risk and Insurance from the Honors College at Michigan State University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He is the author of Outsourcing Human Resources which was published in 2006 by the Society of Human Resources Management. In 2008, Scott was named “Thought Leader of the Year” by the Human Resources Outsourcing Association in recognition of his success in defining industry standard, establishing benchmarks and realigning relationships between clients and providers.
Wen Hsieh | Partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers

Wen Hsieh joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in February 2006. His focus areas of investment include Greentech, applications and products enabled by novel materials, and semiconductor technologies.

Prior to KPCB, Wen was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Co San Francisco and a leader of McKinsey’s Asia Semiconductor Practice. During his 5 years at McKinsey, Wen’s primary focus was on serving leading companies across the global semiconductor value chain. His clients included EDA companies, design houses, wafer fab equipment vendors, automated test equipment vendors, test solution providers, wafer foundries, logic & memory IDMs, PC/server OEMs and component distributors.

At McKinsey, Wen’s secondary focus was on serving small companies in the North America biopharma sector. His clients included companies in the anti-viral, generics and specialty pharma segments.

Wen’s consulting experiences have been in the functional areas of alliance & JV strategies, new business building, growth strategy, low-cost region outsourcing, manufacturing strategy & operations, M&A due-diligence, pre- & post-merger management, pricing & sales programs and R&D strategies.

Before McKinsey, Wen founded OnChip Technologies, a startup developing MEMS microfluidic-based protein chips. The target market was high-sensitivity and high-throughput protein separation and identification applications.

Wen earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. Minor in Biology from the California Institute of Technology. He also received a B.S. with Honors and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
Jonathan K. Hsu | Chief Executive Officer, 24/7 Real Media

Jonathan K. Hsu is responsible for day-to-day operations, enhancing 24/7’s award-winning services for advertisers and publishers, and overseeing the company’s international expansion. Prior to this role, Mr. Hsu was the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, responsible for its global operations, including Technology Development, Corporate Development, Finance, Marketing, Product Management, Human Resources and various administrative functions.

Mr. Hsu joined the company in March 2000, and as COO was instrumental in the company’s acquisition by WPP and numerous strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Yahoo! and Dentsu. Previously, while Mr. Hsu served as CFO, he oversaw a 500 percent jump in revenue growth over four years. As Senior Vice President - Corporate Development and Strategic Planning, he was responsible for driving the company’s geographic and product line expansion, overseeing the acquisitions of Insight First in January 2002, Real Media Korea in December 2003, and Decide Interactive in August 2004.

Mr. Hsu joined 24/7 Real Media from JP Morgan Chase Securities, where he specialized in M&A activities for new economy companies, telecommunication firms, and financial sponsors. Previously, he served as a venture capitalist at American Lead Ventures and founded a magazine distributed internationally by Time Warner.

Mr. Hsu holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.

Mr. Kwan has 30 years of advisory and management experience in the U.S., China and Eastern Europe. From 1995 to 2002, Mr. Kwan was based in Beijing as the Deputy CEO of our China practice. Mr. Lee joined Symbio in May of 2009 and has been focused on growing the business and leading United States sales activity. Imin Lee | CEO, AccelOps

Imin Lee is a successful entrepreneur that has achieved excellent results for customers, employees and investors. She has over 20 years of executive management and technical experience in networking, security, telecommunications, and enterprise software. Imin also served as the president of HYSTA, a nonprofit Silicon Valley / China professional networking organization, and serves on its board.

Prior to starting AccelOps, Imin founded Protego Networks, a leading provider of Security Information Management appliances acquired by Cisco. Previously, she led the Cisco’s next generation Policy Configuration Management system team, overseeing development, product specification and launch. Before Cisco, Imin held numerous technical and management positions in Bell Labs, AT&T Labs, Amerex Systems, and IBM.

Imin was a professor in Guangzhou Community University, China. She holds an MS degree in Computer Science from State University of New York and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from South China University of Technology, China.

David is a partner in Orrick’s Emerging Companies Group, which advises emerging companies and venture capital firms. David practices in the areas of corporate information, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings.

David has an active practice representing China-focused emerging companies. He heads Orrick’s China Emerging Companies Group, which has lawyers in Silicon Valley, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Aileen Lee is a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a leading Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm. She joined KPCB in 1999 and focuses on backing innovative digital and green technology companies. She has worked closely with the teams at Bloom Energy, Blue Nile , Friendster, Genomic Health, Good Technology, Miasole, Tellme, Zazzle, and Reach Media Group, where she was founding CEO and now serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Prior to joining KPCB, Aileen worked at Gap Inc. in various operating roles including business development, product management and marketing, and in the office of the CEO. She has also worked for Odwalla and for The North Face in brand and product marketing. Robert P. Lee, Ph.D. | Executive Chairman, Achievo Corporation

Dr. Robert P. Lee, a 30-year veteran of the computer industry, is Executive Chairman of Achievo Corporation. Dr. Lee co-founded the company in 2002 and served as its CEO from 2002 through 2008.

Dr. Lee was president and CEO of Inxight Software, Inc. before joining Achievo. Prior to Inxight Software, he was chairman, president and CEO of Insignia Solutions plc, a software company he took public in 1995. Dr. Lee also served as executive vice president at Symantec Corporation where he led the acquisition and integration of many companies, including Norton Computing. He was senior vice president at Shared Medical Systems Corporation (now merged with Siemens), and earlier in his career held various technical and business management positions at IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation.

Dr. Lee is a member of the board of directors and advisor to several companies. In addition to being a director for Achievo and Accela, he is a director for Osel, Inc., a bio-pharmaceutical company. Dr. Lee was formerly chairman and president of Silicon Valley's Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA) for multiple terms. Hanson Li is currently Executive Director at The Hina Group, one of the largest merchant banks focusing on China with 50+ professionals on the ground in China. With offices in China, US, and Singapore, Hina has been variously recognized as the Best Boutique M&A Bank, Best Private Equity Firm, and Best Cross-border Investment Bank. Hanson works in both the investment banking division as well as the private equity fund. For IBD, he assists global corporations with their merger and acquisition in China. He also works with leading Chinese companies in raising capital and in exploring M&A opportunities outside of China. For the Hina Private Equity Fund, Hanson evaluates Chinese domestic investment opportunities, with a thesis in leveraging the Hina IBD platform and extensive China network.

Outside of The Hina Group, Hanson is involved with many organizations focused on Asia including Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HYSTA: the largest Chinese executive organization), and serves on the board of Asia American MultiTech Association (AAMA: one of the oldest and largest Asian American professional organizations), and Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM: the preeminent Asia and Asian American investment manager focused organization).

Prior to graduating from Stanford Graduate School of Business and joining The Hina Group, Hanson worked at Capital One Financial and EqualFooting. At Capital One, a Fortune 500 financial services company, he held management roles at AmericaOne, the company's telecom subsidiary. At EqualFooting, a B2B/software start-up funded by NEA, FBR, Yahoo!, Nextel, and Textron, he held dual Vice President roles managing operations and strategy. Hanson also served as Vice President of Business Development for GlobalLogic, a leading IT outsourcing company. Yabo regularly counsels clients on general corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and capital market transactions. His recent experience as lead counsel includes a $120 million public secondary offering on NASDAQ closed in a challenging environment in August 2009, $75 million acquisitions of U.S. companies by two Chinese companies in 2009, a $250 million investment by a U.S. company in Chinese metal manufacturing in 2008, and private placements, exchange offers and tender offers totaling $1.4 billion in 2007 and 2006. He was also a lead counsel in a $700 million acquisition (and later divestiture) of equity interest in a leading provider of telecom infrastructure services in the U.S.
Mr. Lin was one of the key lawyers representing a former Fortune 100 company on its major acquisitions and divestitures in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. In addition, he was the lead corporate counsel representing an energy client in negotiating with Enron to resolve, to the client’s satisfaction, disputes over complex energy derivative trading contracts involving hundreds of millions of dollars in 2002.
In 2005, the President of American Bar Association appointed Mr. Lin to its six-member board of the Asia Law Initiative Council. In 2009, he was appointed Co-Chairman of the ABA Asia Advisory Board, serving with Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also a board member of the Edgar Snow Memorial Fund and the California Asia Business Council, an Advisory Board member of the Asia Law Alliance (a pro bono legal aid group in Silicon Valley), and an adjunct professor at Sun Yat-Sen University.

Qi Lu | President, Online Services Division, Microsoft

As president of Microsoft's Online Services Division (OSD), Dr. Qi Lu leads the company's search and online advertising efforts. Dr. Lu oversees the OSD Research & Development team which has responsibility for the evolution of Microsoft's search, portal and advertising services; the Online Audience Business Group; and the Advertiser and Publisher Solutions Business Group. Dr. Lu reports to Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Lu spent 10 years as a Yahoo! senior executive. His roles included serving as the executive vice president of engineering for the company's Search and Advertising Technology Group where he oversaw the development of Yahoo!'s Web search and monetization platforms and vice president of engineering responsible for the technology development of Yahoo!'s search, e-commerce and local listings of businesses and products.
