Director, HYSTA IT & Membership Services

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for the entire organization as a strong team player.
  • Manage HYSTA's existing IT properties and processes in support of the HYSTA's operation.
  • Be a champion of membership satisfaction to serve HYSTA's prodigious members.
  • Guide and develop critical public and internal Web IT applications across the organization.
  • Provide strategic guidance in order to determine key investment areas in applications, infrastructure and platforms.
  • Lead the design of a scalable automation infrastructure that sustains HYSTA's rapid growth.
  • Lead the design of the next generation of HYSTA Web applications, leveraging Web 2.0 technologies.
  • Guide prototyping, testing, and evaluation of tools, applications and platforms.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Direct or in-direct experience managing teams containing critical engineering talent.
  • Deep understanding of conceptual models, and engineering frameworks.
  • Excellent development skills and experience in Perl, PHP, and MySQL.
  • In-depth understanding of Web 2.0 technologies and Web applications.
  • In-depth understanding of UNIX and Linux systems, performance engineering, and design.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills.
Preferable Job Qualifications:
  • Experience with open source and community development.
  • Unix System administration experience or equivalent knowledge (Solaris, Linux, BSD).
  • MySQL experience.
  • PHP experience.
  • Consulting and outsourcing experience.

  • Work with stakeholders across HYSTA to define roadmap for its public and internal web portal
  • Work with outsourcing team to execute the overall roadmap for HYSTA IT Applications
  • Use web analytics, site usage, study groups, and competitive analysis to drive decision making
  • Drive preliminary design concepts, communicating ideas via mockups, building consensus on ideas
  • Develop detailed use cases and test plans to ensure features and functions accomplish core
  • Ojectives and standards for quality and usability
  • Develop taxonomy and functional specifications for Web site flow
  • Collaborate with designers to convert product ideas into beautiful works of art
  • Apply web 2.0 technologies and features to design and feature development
  • Create, publish and maintain documentation on features or project related work
  • Answer questions from yahoo users and troubleshoot problems
Basic Requirements
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4+ years of web site product management experience, with experience driving overall
  • Product strategy and optimization
  • Prior experience working with outsourcing firms.
  • Strong understanding of web portal design principles, usability, navigation, content organization,
  • Web 2.0 features and related web site development processes.
  • Well grounded technical background and ability to speak with and understand developers
  • Ability to prioritize among competing requests, balance stakeholder needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions
  • Demonstrated ability of taking a product concept through all states of definition and development through to launch
  • Capability to execute rapidly and efficiently in an unstructured environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb self-management skills
  • Willing to learn new web trends and technologies
  • Desire to work closely within a team environment
Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Years of experience in Web/Software product management and familiar with PRD.
  • Years of experience in outsourcing vendor management and familiar with RFQ.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines
  • Exceptional problem-solving expertise and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Prior experience designing portals
  • Experience in software or internet services outsourcing industry
