HYSTA Announces New Co-Presidents
San Jose, CA, April 03, 2008 – HYSTA (Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Qi Lu and Dr. Hong Chen as its two new Co-Presidents effective March 8, 2008 Dr. Qi Lu will serve as President of HYSTA, USA and Dr. Hong Chen will serve as President of HYSTA, China. Stepping down from the President and Vice President positions are Imin Lee and Jack Xu, who will remain on as board members.
Dr. Lu and Dr. Chen bring to their new positions a broad range of investment and technology development experience and a passion for the HYSTA mission. Prior to these appointments both Dr. Lu and Dr. Chen were serving on the board continuously bringing insight and vision.
“I'm confident this change will raise HYSTA's ability to develop future generations of Chinese Leaders as the rise of China's economy brings forth new markets and business opportunities.” Said the organization's current President, Imin Lee.
Dr. Lu is an Executive Vice President of Engineering for Search and Advertising at Yahoo! As a HYSTA board member, Dr. Lu's knowledge and insight have been invaluable in steering the organization. As a Co-President of HYSTA, Dr. Lu connections in the technology development community will guide Chinese entrepreneurs in this era of global convergence.
This is Dr. Chen's second term as President of HYSTA, he first served as the founding President from 2000 to 2003. As CEO of The Hina group, his influence in investment banking and private equity ranks high on all of China's top lists. By returning to the appointment of Co-President of HYSTA, China, HYSTA will be well positioned to reach deep into the Chinese community, forge new relationships and discover new talent.
On March 03, based upon Dr. Chen's and Dr. Lu's professional background, qualifications, skill set, leadership abilities and “fit” with the HYSTA mission, the HYSTA Board enthusiastically and unanimously approved their appointment as the next Co-Presidents of HYSTA. With their talent, vision and dedicated leadership, HYSTA's ability to advance career development and facilitate networking among Chinese entrepreneurs and executives in Silicon Valley and China will be stronger and more influential than ever.
Biographies:
Dr. Qi Lu is an Executive Vice President of Engineering for Search and Advertising at Yahoo! Inc .He joined Yahoo in 1998 and worked on and led the development of a number of Yahoo 's ecommerce, listings and small business products. Since 2002, he started working on and led the technology development of Yahoo 's foray into a powerhouse of search and advertising, including the acquisitions of Internet pioneering companies such as Inktomi, Overture, AltaVista and integrating them into the industry's most experienced search technology group. In early 2006, Dr. Lu took on extended responsibility to oversee Yahoo 's broad advertising technology development.
Dr. Lu received B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Fudan University, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University .
Dr. Hong Chen is Founder, Chairman and CEO of The Hina Group. With more than 50 professionals, and offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Silicon Valley, The Hina Group has become one of the most reputable investment banking and private equity firms in China. In 2007, The Hina Group has received numerous awards including “China's Top Ten Most Influential Private Equity Firms”, “The Best Private Equity Firm in China”, and “The Best Cross Border Investment Bank in China”. Dr. Chen received a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1982 at the age of 19, and a Ph.D. in computer science from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1991.
